2008 – 2013

Ultimart: Jurnal Komunikasi Visual was initiated by The Faculty of Art and Design and appointed the dean of the faculty Mr. M.S. Gumelar, M.A at the time to serve as Editor in chief. This was the initial phase of the journal which started in 2008 and the first printed edition was published in 2009. It was intended to serve as a vehicle to disseminate the production of knowledge relating to the fields of Art and Design in order to build a stronger academic research and publication culture of the faculty.

2014 - 2016

Due to changes in the structural line up of the faculty  Dr Ratna Cahaya. S.Sos., M. Ds., were appointed to act as the second  Editor in Chief in charge of the journal's flow and publication.

The journal adopts a style of two column layout and conforms to the APA style of academic writing and format.

2016

In 2016, Makbul Mubarak, S.I.P., M.A.,  was appointed to take the role of Editor in Chief and became the person in charge to oversee the overall flow of the journal.

Adjustments were made to the visual layout and the cover of the journal, including changes in the use of font type of the manuscript.

2017

In 2017, Ultimart: Jurnal Komunikasi Visual was accredited by the Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education of the Republic of Indonesia, and manage to achieve number 4 rank in SINTA (SINTA 4). The official accreditation was granted in 2017 with certificate number: 14/E/KPT/2019

2019 - 2020

 Juhri Selamet S.ST., M.Des were appointed to take the Editor in Chief position to manage the journal's flow and publications in 2019 until December 2020. 

2021

Salima Hakim S.Sn., M.Hum was appointed as the Editor in chief to manage the overall flow of the journal in 2021.

The journal adopted the IMRAD model for publication writing style to conform with the Indonesian Ministry of Research and Higher Education Regulations. The Journal is using APA style , 7th edtition for writing style reference. 

Several adjustments and changes regarding to the article's visual layout such as the use of headings on article page with the journal's logo, basic information and issn number is also added to the layout to polish the overall look of the journal.

 

2023

Adjustments and changes regarding to the article's use of Language. Starting from Volume 16, No. 1 , published in June 2023, Ultimart only accept articles written in English
