The rapidly growing animation industry in Indonesia demands the readiness of competent human resources through vocational education at Vocational High Schools (SMK). Teaching materials play a crucial role in supporting effective learning processes that align with industry needs. This article explores the role of reviewers in the development of animation teaching materials for SMK, focusing on the implementation and evaluation of content, structure, and instructional approaches. The review process was conducted using a descriptive qualitative approach, with content analysis based on competency standards issued by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology, specifically the Agency for Standards, Curriculum, and Educational Assessment, and the Center for Textbooks. The study findings indicate that the teaching materials were systematically structured and support project-based learning. However, several shortcomings were identified, such as the lack of guiding questions and inconsistencies in technical terminology. Reviewer feedback significantly contributed to improving both the academic and practical quality of the teaching materials. Recommendations include regular content updates, involvement of industry practitioners, and the development of digital teaching materials based on technology and artificial intelligence. The review process has proven to be a strategic step in maintaining the quality of vocational education that is responsive to the dynamics of the animation industry.
