Authors Guideline

Ultima InfoSys: Jurnal Ilmu Sistem Informasi welcomes original research articles in the field of information systems. Please read these guidelines carefully before submitting, as manuscripts that do not follow them will be returned to the authors without review.

General Requirements

Manuscripts must be original work that has not been published before and is not under consideration by any other journal or conference. Manuscripts must be written in English and prepared using the journal’s official template, which can be downloaded here: https://ejournals.umn.ac.id/public/site/Template/Template%20Paper/FTI/Manuscript%20Template%20-%20English%20InfoSys.doc. Each manuscript should be at least 6 pages.
All manuscripts are checked for plagiarism, and the similarity score must not exceed 20%. Manuscripts with a higher score will be returned to the authors or rejected.

Focus and Scope

The journal publishes research on topics including database systems, management information systems, system analysis and development, project management systems, programming, mobile information systems, and other topics related to information systems.

Manuscript Structure

  • Title. The title should be concise and informative, no more than 15 words, and should reflect the main content of the article.
  • Author Information.Author names, affiliations, and email addresses should be included only in the metadata entered in OJS and in a separate title page, not in the manuscript file, to support double-blind review. The corresponding author should be clearly identified.
  • Abstract. The abstract should be 150–250 words and written as a single paragraph. It should briefly state the background, purpose, method, main results, and conclusion of the research. Manuscripts written in Indonesian must include an abstract in both Indonesian and English.
  • Keywords.Provide 3–5 keywords that represent the main topics of the article.
  • Introduction.Explain the background of the research, the problem being addressed, a review of related studies, the research gap, and the objectives of the study.
  • Research Method.Describe the research design, data collection, tools, system development method, or analysis techniques in enough detail for other researchers to reproduce the study. Diagrams such as research frameworks, system models, or flowcharts are encouraged.
  • Results and Discussion.Present the findings clearly using tables, figures, or screenshots where appropriate, and discuss what they mean in relation to the research objectives and previous studies. Results and discussion may be presented as one combined section or as two separate sections.
  • Conclusion.Summarize the main findings, state the contribution of the research, and suggest directions for future work. The conclusion should not repeat the abstract or introduce new results.
  • Acknowledgments (optional).Acknowledge funding sources, including grant numbers, and any individuals or institutions that supported the research. Leave this section out of the manuscript file during review and add it after acceptance.
  • Conflict of Interest.State any conflicts of interest, or write “The authors declare no conflict of interest,” in accordance with the journal’s Conflict of Interest Policy.
  • References.See the section below.

Figures and Tables

Figures and tables must be numbered consecutively, have clear titles, and be referred to in the text. Table titles are placed above the table and figure titles below the figure. Figures should be high resolution (at least 300 dpi) and readable when printed. Screenshots of systems or applications should be cropped to show only the relevant parts.

References

References must follow the IEEE citation style, and authors are strongly encouraged to use a reference manager such as Mendeley, Zotero, or EndNote. In the text, references are cited with numbers in square brackets, such as [1] or [2], [5], numbered in the order in which they first appear. The reference list at the end of the manuscript must be arranged in the same numerical order.
Each manuscript should cite at least [15] references, of which at least 80% should be primary sources such as journal articles and conference proceedings published within the last 10 years. All works cited in the text must appear in the reference list, and vice versa. Include DOIs wherever available. Excessive self-citation should be avoided.

Use of Generative AI

AI tools may be used to improve language and readability but must not be used to generate data, results, or interpretations, and cannot be listed as authors. Authors remain fully responsible for the content of their manuscript.

Submission

Manuscripts must be submitted online through the journal’s OJS at https://ejournals.umn.ac.id/index.php/SI/about/submissions. Authors must register as users before submitting. Submissions by email will not be accepted. During submission, authors should upload the anonymized manuscript file and complete all metadata, including author names, affiliations, abstract, keywords, and references.

Review and Publication

All manuscripts go through initial screening and double-blind peer review as described in the journal’s Peer Review Process. Authors must revise their manuscripts according to the reviewers’ and editors’ comments within the given deadline and include a response letter explaining how each comment was addressed.
Accepted manuscripts are subject to an Article Processing Charge of IDR 750,000.00, which is charged only after acceptance. Details are available on the Article Processing Charge page.
