Post-Publication Discussion & Correction
Ownership & Management Information
For Ultima InfoSys: Jurnal Ilmu Sistem Informasi, publication does not mark the end of scholarly evaluation. The journal welcomes meaningful comment on the articles it publishes and offers formal channels through which readers can ask questions, challenge an interpretation, or report an error. This includes concerns about the software, source code, datasets, or system models on which published findings are based.
| Channel | Purpose | Procedure |
|---|---|---|
| Letter to the Editor | A brief, focused response to a published article, such as a methodological question, an alternative interpretation, additional evidence, or the results of an attempt to reproduce the findings. | Maximum 1,000 words and 10 references. Send to [insert email] with the subject line “Letter to the Editor – [DOI]”. |
| Author Reply | The original authors’ response to a letter. | Authors receive the letter and have 30 days to respond. The letter and reply are normally published together. |
| Commentary | A longer, invited article that extends a discussion raised by one or more published papers. | Invited by the editors, or proposed directly to the Editor-in-Chief. |
| Correction Request | A factual error in a published article. | Handled under the journal’s Correction and Retraction Policy. |
| Ethical Concern | A suspected case of research misconduct or an undisclosed conflict of interest. | Handled confidentially under the Allegation of Research Misconduct Policy and the Conflict of Interest Policy. |
The journal acknowledges each letter within 7 working days. The editors then assess whether it is substantive, specific, and respectful. Letters that merely repeat the content of the article, pursue a personal dispute, or make unsupported allegations will be declined, and the writer will be told why.
When a letter raises a substantive point, it is forwarded to the authors of the original article, who are given 30 days to respond. The letter and the authors’ reply are then published together, each with its own DOI, and are linked to the original article and to one another. If the exchange shows that the article contains an error, the matter is transferred to the correction procedure.
Letters and replies become part of the published scholarly record. Each is read by at least two editors before publication and may also be sent for peer review at the editors’ discretion.
Comments should focus on the research rather than the researchers. They should identify the specific section, table, figure, analysis, or code at issue, support every claim with evidence or references, and be written in a way that the authors can reasonably respond to. The journal will not publish anonymous criticism of named researchers. However, anonymous concerns about possible misconduct will still be assessed on the strength of their evidence.
